We thought about our Grandpa's today in our travels. On our way to our first site we ran into "Stan's club" we were riding in a cab and didn't get cameras out fast enough to get a pic but, looked for it again all the way home. Sorry Dad but, we were thinking about you! When we got to the park today we kept wishing Grandpa Hirschi was there to see the incredible flower gardens and blossoming cherry trees. The beauty of the park and gardens were my favorite thing we have seen so far. They had paddle boats you could use around the lake and it made me remember a time with my sisters in Henry's lake when we would paddle hard and couldn't get anywhere. We were all laughing so hard we couldn't breathe. As I''ve said we cause a lot of commotion wherever we go. People stop and stare and follow us wherever we are it's a little freaky for me and at the park many wanted pictures with Jessica and some with us too. They love Jessica's blond hair. After spending a few hours at the park we went to a famous museum here. I think we were all tired and not really ready to appreciate the museum too much it showed many exhibits of jade making, porcelain, and weaving. Then came back to the hotel for lunch and a nap. We went to "Mexican cuisine" in China. It was called Tacos. Jessica thought she totally scored on the meal because they brought out her chocolate cake first. It is interesting to have hot water wherever we go so, have a cold ice water for me everyone! We came back to the hotel to lay EmmaLi down and she freaked out and I couldn't console her she finally cried herself to sleep-it breaks our hearts. Such a very sad cry and she continued to cry a little while sleeping then after a very short nap crying so hard we had to give her some Tylenol finally guessing she may not feel good and possibly an ear ache. We decided we would go for children's cold medicine and she calmed right down when we got out of the room. We got to the store and there was another white person we decided to ask if he could tell us where medicine was. Turns out a small shop down the street had medicine not in the grocery store at all. go figure. We got to the shop where we proceeded to play charades with to Grandma type women. They pulled out some amoxicillin and everything! We were very surprised but, felt nervous to buy anything. It was probably comical to watch us charading and miming! Finally got some cold medicine for kids and left. On the way home we bought Jessica and EmmaLi a couple of things from some street sellers outside a children's hospital (large Hello Kitty balloon and some sort of rattle/whistle for EmmaLi-we don't seem to be drawing enough attention to ourselves w e need bells and whistles too!) EmmaLi falls asleep standing up holding something-I have seen her do it twice and she did it again while Jon and Jessica ran to McDonald's for dinner. Then she woke up all smiles, laughing and playing. Hopefully we won't have a difficult night again tonight putting her to bed. Thanks for all your support!

Sounds like you are learning a lot from each other. :) You are doing a great job and I love reading about your adventure! She is adorable and Jessica seems so happy to be there with you! Maybe her problem is a bedtime routine? My kids still throw a fit to go to bed sometimes. Hang in there. Still praying for you! :)
A lot of the crying is her grief. Remember she just lost a LOT! Let her grieve and comfort her as much as she needs it. Grief is a really good sign, she was attached and can attach again! Sorry she's sick. How is Jess doing?? She looks great in the pictures. Love you guys!
I bet Jessica is loving it and soaking up all the attention she is getting. How fun for her!
Jessica does have beautiful hair! Glad you found Walmart and McDonalds. I would be suckered in to buy things too especially because of the language barrier. Don't know if I could drink warm drinks ;p You'll have to have a diet coke on the plane. Lots of adjustments for everyone-hang in there! Can't wait for your cute family to return!!!
Loving the updates. What a fun time. I will drink a big diet coke in you honor tomorrow:-) You are in our thoughts and prayers. You've got two beautiful daughters!
