More news from Nanjing

We had a little more challenging day today. We went back to the government offices today and we think that she is officially ours according to Nanjing. Our guide tells us the U.S. side is more picky about things.

We ventured out as a family to the grocery store and in hopes of picking up some necessities. It isn't very easy when you don't know the language. We found some things and were hungry when we spotted the KFC across the street. We went there and felt the whole restaurant staring at us when we walked in. Jon tried to order for us (more difficult than it looks) and I waited with Jessica and EmmaLi at a table with everyone still staring. I then tried to take EmmaLi down the slide at the playland where an older woman got in my face and seemed to be getting after me for something. I picked up EmmaLi and walked away. Then we came back to our 5 star hotel (which is very nice) and let EmmaLi take a nap.

She is happy until I change her and when she wakes up she cries. The orphanage workers seem to think it is because she is embarrassed. We are going to see her orphanage and the place she was "abandoned" (I hate this term-it seems too negative for what her birth parents did, they had a note with her that they hoped someone would be able to care for her, I never want EmmaLi to feel unwanted either, sorry editorial notes from Mom) but, that is what they say.

She is a true "Hirschi" she loves ice-cream! We discovered this today as well. Jon tried to take laundry out to be done but, wasn't so successful there, he felt like the woman was mocking him with others but, really for the most part everyone seems very kind and willing to help. We hope EmmaLi is happy she seems to be more tonight not so much earlier today. Her Nanny reminded us to put more layers on her. She was wearing 4 pants and shirts and seemed to be too hot so, we keep learning new ways and trying to be patient with ourselves. EmmaLi loves her cups she stacks and loves her quack-quack! (Thank you Jennie and Uncle Glenn and Aunt Cindy) It is heaven when she giggles and torture when she cries.

Keep the prayers coming, please we feel their power! We love you all!

You guys are doing an amazing thing. It is a good thing that you can't understand everyone. So people just don't understand what is going on. Glad she love ice cream. I hope it was Ben and Jerry's!
